By digitally recycling discarded, old photographs, Between Men and Women, 2006, repositions the original intentions and meanings of these culturally coded images. The work illuminates the imaging of architecture as a performed ritual of human production. The concept of architecture is constructed as a stage for human actions and meanings. The desire to ‘build’ and turn ‘space’ into ‘place’ influences the effective field of social action and structures. Interweaving new technologies with discarded archives establishes a visual landscape that acts as a counter narrative between the ‘old ways’ and the ‘new’. Through the visual ‘imaginary’ the potential for reconfiguration is instrumental towards new dimensions of production and its affective impact.
