‘Landscapes’ is a series of polaroid images held behind thick panes of molten glass. Inspired by Bill Henson's twilight landscapes these are images reflect on Modernity's Utopian vision established in the virtues of mechanization and building. The absence of figures leaves us with our own presence as sole occupants in this abandoned world where barren landscapes meet derelict industries.
Landscapes are also about journey. Each image acts like a frame in a celluloid film. Established in a linear pattern, the gaps evolve as part of the story left untold, forgotten, recessing into the chasms of our unconscious memories. Like a daydream the images capture the fleeting feeling of a blurred landscape passing by our window. Juxtaposed by time and space we safely project ourselves into these miniature worlds and into the space beyond, into the vastness of dreaming space. |
