Metamorphosis is a series of works exploring the re-valuing of the mundane and discarded. Utilising everyday familiar materials such as plastic bags and shredded paper, I wanted to tackle the issue of recycling these common materials and re-contextualise their purpose or use in a fine art context. The manipulation of surface and the layering of texture and colour became important aspects to the metamorphosis. So too was it important to me to re-inject value into the materials, to open possibilities for other uses and ways of thinking.

Metamorphosis grew to become a menagerie of different forms and textures that challenge the viewer to re-consider function and purpose.
