New Curve reframes the conventional definition of how we should look. I believe that the conventional notion that attractiveness, success and happiness only depend on being thin is wrong. This misconception has strong impact on young girls through Barbie Dolls and through today's media. Therefore, I aim to design innovative Self-assured Glasses, which promote healthy body image and raise young girls awareness of positive attitudes to their health and appearances.

In opposing the stereotypical perception, the Self-assured Glasses feature fisheye lenses to create distorted vision. The product can be used as sunglasses, as well as educational tool. They are useful in reinforcing the idea that beauty comes with a good personality, in all types of body shapes and sizes. There are no rules about how we should look. The fisheye lenses are traditionally used for photography, covering a wide angle of view and curving outward. I plan to use this material to create distorted images. By wearing them, girls can be discouraged to compare their body images with others and instead become comfortable and confident with the ways they look. Consequently, we can accept the reality that we are all different.
